Quail “Horror” Mauls The Field!
The “green mile” at Quail Hollow, the venue for the 2017 PGA Championship, turned into a destructive killer as it took down player after player and perhaps the worst mauling was meted out to former world number one, Jason Day, who was hammered on the final hole with a bogey-8 to fall to even-par for the third round.
Virtually no player was spared by the stretch of the last three holes and even the third round leader, Kevin Kisner was forced to wrap up his score of 10-under par lead with a final tally of 7-under par – he lost three strokes on the “green mile”.
Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama (pictured), had an average round but managed to stay safe and is just one shot back of Kisner at 6-under par. He is tied for second place with Chris Stroud. Matsuyama will be in the final pairing with Kisner on Sunday.
Pre-tournament favourites Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth are totally out of contention.
