Jubilant Jutanugarns – Second 59 Shot!
There was no stopping the Jutanugarn sisters from Thailand. Dressed in identical black outfits, the sisters showed up at the final round of the DOW Great Lakes Bay Invitational determined to crush the competition and finish as winners. This they did and they did it in style!
After shooting a record-breaking round of 59 in an earlier round of the team tournament, both Ariya and Moriya girls blasted another round of 59 in the final round to reach a winning total score of 24-under par 256.
This win was Ariya’s 12th victory on the LPGA Tour and Moriya’s second. Combined, the two Thais have exceeded career earnings of US$18 million.
For this win, they claimed a check for US$559,011 (US$279,505 each).
It was a fantastic day for women golfers from Thailand – Jasmine Suwannapura, teamed with American Cydney Clanton was second at 21-under par.
Pajaree Anannarukarn also of Thailand partnered with India’s Aditi Ashok to be tied for third at 19-under par.
Australia’s Minjee Lee teamed up with the reigning US Women’s Open Champion Yuka Saso to finish 5th on their own at 18-under par.
