Fleetwood Scores A Spectacular Win!
It was a surprise alright to see Englishman Tommy Fleetwood (pictured) charge up the leaderboard to win the 2019 Nedbank Golf Challenge in South Africa.
Fleetwood, who has been winless since January 2018 came from behind to win the top prize of US$2.5 million, the biggest pot on the European Tour.
The win sets him up for a good look at the Race to Dubai championship with another pot of gold ready for the taking.
Victory came for Fleetwood after he beat Marcus Kinhult at the first extra hole in a play-off.
Fleetwood went into the final round trailing the overnight leader Zander Lombard by six shots on 5-under. The South African Lombard fired a miserable 77 that included a double bogey and four other bogeys, dropping him to 6-under.
Bernd Wiesberger, who could have won the Race to Dubai a week early with a victory, tied for third on 8-t under alongside Belgium’s Thomas Detry and Australian Jason Scrivener.
