What A Finish Finau!

The tall and hugely talented Pacific islander has finally done it!

The PING brand ambassador, Tony Finau (pictured) ended a five-year winless drought when he dug deep to whip Australian Cameron Smith in a gutsy play-off to lift the Northern Trust Championship title, the first leg in the 2021 FedExCup Play-Off series.

The win came after 142 tournaments when the big Finau smashed a drive that split the fairway and this was in itself good enough for him to sink a putt to win!

The last time Finau won on the PGA Tour was in 2016 when he lifted the Puerto Rico Open in the spring of 2016 which was followed by eight runner-up finishes and 11 finishes in the top three.

For the win, Finau picked up a check for US$1.71 million and he now goes on to battle for the big FedExCup prize of US$15 million.

Early leader Jon Rahm finished third.

Joining Finau, Smith and Rahm to the next round, the BMW Championship later this week are Alex Noren, Erik van Rooyen, Harold Varner III and Harry Higgs.

The final round was postponed on Sunday as Hurricane Henri lashed the West coast of the United States.
